Alexa V. Smyth's Biography

Alexa V. Smyth is a fantasy and science fiction writer whose work explores love, loss, and human connection through romance, horror, and speculative fiction. With a growing portfolio of short fiction, she is currently preparing to release her debut novel, FEED, a sci-fi horror story centered on power and sacrifice, slated for release in late September.
Born in the stretch of the Appalachian Mountains that runs through Tennessee, Alexa grew up steeped in storytelling - myth, folklore, and the long tradition of oral narrative that treats stories as living things meant to be shared. That early exposure shaped her fascination with how stories take shape, how gods and monsters are made, and how humanity can see its reflection in fictional tales taller than trees. At fourteen, she published her first poem in a local newspaper, marking the beginning of her formal writing journey.
At sixteen, she moved with her family to Seattle, where immersion in a larger artistic and literary community pushed her to explore the craft more seriously. There, she deepened her understanding of narrative structure, genre blending, and emotional impact - elements that continue to define her work today.
Alexa is a creative writing major at Southern New Hampshire University and has been accepted into their MFA program. Her influences range from the rich, dark worlds of Tanith Lee and Anne Rice, to the wit and whimsy of Terry Pratchett, and the titillating romance of Katee Robert.
She currently lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and three cats.
